The remnants of Hurricanes Rachel and Simon are combining with a cold front, and more mountain snow is on the horizon.
On Monday, October 12, 2026, meteorologist Chris Tomer broke down which mountains saw snow over the weekend and how the next storm system could continue to impact different areas in the coming week.
This past weekend, parts of Montana, including Showdown Mountain and Big Sky, picked up a fair bit of snow at their highest elevations. Showdown in particular got nearly 20″, while totals at Big Sky were unknown. However, further south in Utah, remnants of Rachel came in as rain in significant amounts in some areas. Flash-flooding closed Big Cottonwood Canyon on Sunday after 1-3 inches of rain fell in a short period of time. Tomer noted that a continued cold front in the coming days could turn that precipitation to snow higher up in the Wasatch.
On Monday, a low-pressure cycle will move into the Sierras before crossing Utah and Colorado, and “it will bring precipitation,” said Tomer. The highest elevations at Jackson Hole picked up a solid dusting of snow as of Monday morning, showing just how far north that cycle reached.
Throughout the rest of the week, more cold air and precipitation will move across the Rockies, sitting over Colorado for much of October 15. Low elevations across the Front Range will likely see rain, whereas higher elevations in the state should see snow accumulate. By October 16th, the remnants of Simon will cross New Mexico and southern Colorado, potentially increasing snowfall totals across the San Juans.
Tomer’s forecast models show that between Monday night and Wednesday, Alta could see 10″ of snow at mid-mountain and 18-20″ at the top of the resort. At Loveland, the same models show 5″ of snow at mid-mountain and 8-10″ at the top by Wednesday.
By Wednesday night, October 21, Tomer is predicting less than 2″ of snow in Montana and Idaho, 6+” in Wyoming’s Wind River range, 1-3″ in the Tetons, 8″ at mid-mountain elevations in the Wasatch, 6″ at mid-mountain, and up to a foot up high in the Sierras.
In Colorado, mid-mountain totals are forecasted to be 12″ at Silverton and Winter Park, 11″ at Snowmass, 9″ at Loveland & A-Basin, 8″ at Aspen Mountain, 7″ at Crested Butte, Keystone, Eldora, Breckenridge, and Ski Cooper, 6″ at Vail and Copper Mountain.

OpenSnow’s recent forecasts for Utah and Colorado show similar precipitation, snow levels, and temperatures over the next couple of weeks, though higher snow totals are expected.
Meteorologist Alan Smith is predicting 23″ at Snowbird, 20″ at Alta, 18″ at Brighton, Silverton, and just over a foot at Brian Head and Solitude. Deer Valley and Park City could both pick up 10″ while A-Basin, Loveland, Steamboat, Winter Park, Wolf Creek, Aspen, Breckenridge, and Copper are all forecasting between 6-8” over the next five days.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
