The government has given the Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) the responsibility of testing the vehicles that operate on the roads in order to ensure their safety and effectiveness. Testing of vehicles and inspections are mandatory for all cars to prevent accidents and malfunctions. 

Here is a guide for car owners regarding testing procedures in Dubai:

All vehicles older than three years old have to undergo annual testing at RTA approved centres. 

Procedure:

The vehicle for testing has to be brought to the inspection station. Remove any valuables in the car, including jewellery or cash. Car owners may wait in the testing room and observe the procedure on screen. Once the procedure is over, the owner is informed whether the vehicle has passed or failed the test. In case of failure, the vehicle has to be retested after repairs within 31 days. A pass certificate will be issued for cars with a date sticker and car registration card for commuting in Dubai.

1. Emirates ID (EID)
2. Vehicle Registration Card
3. Commercial license copy (For commercial vehicles).

Roadworthiness Test

There are various types of tests conducted for roadworthiness by RTA. 

1. Defect Test: This test is performed after the roadside inspection to examine any defects in the vehicle. 
2. Export Test: Export test is mandatory for vehicles exported outside UAE.
3. New Vehicle Registration: For all new vehicles, testing is mandatory. It is also required for re-registration and transfer of ownership of vehicles.
